24/04Sowing more seeds for charitable giving

Every year for the past 23 years, Eames.Jones.Judge.Hawkings has supported a charity that’s close to their clients’ hearts.  Now that EJJH is part of Novellas Healthcare, we are pleased to become part of this tradition.

At Novellas Healthcare, we have always taken our corporate social responsibilities very seriously and we will continue to do what we can to assist charities that need the most support.  This year we asked our UK clients to recommend a worthy recipient of our funding and the charity chosen was POD Charitable Trust, nominated by Andrew Head, Head of Finance and Administration at Dermal Laboratories Limited.

On 23 April, Luc Decat, the Managing Partner of Novellas Healthcare, together with Andrew Head, presented a cheque for £2500 to Margaret Munford MBE who has run POD Children’s Charity since 1990. “Novellas are very proud to be associated with POD and to be continuing the EJJH tradition of charitable giving here in the UK” said Luc.

POD sows the seeds of magic, fun and laughter in the lives of children in hospital because it believes that happier children get better quicker. POD magicians, puppeteers, musicians and clowns visit 150 hospitals and hospices and provide a  40 minute show designed to appeal to children of all ages, alleviating the trauma of a hospital stay for around half a million children (and their families) each and every year. The fun provides welcome relief from the pain and worry, and also provides the stimulation they need when they're unwell. Entertainers also visit children after the show who are too poorly to join in.  We are delighted that Novellas’ donation will fund an extra 50 visits of a POD entertainer and a second session each month at the local Stevenage hospital.

Says Andrew Head, “We are delighted that Novellas has selected POD for their donation. As a small independent, family-orientated UK business we see a direct correlation with POD.  For me personally as a father of young children, I believe that both children and parents benefit greatly from the kind of therapy that POD entertainers provide.” Margaret Munford concludes, “On behalf of the team, we would like to thank Dermal for nominating us and Novellas Healthcare for their generous donation. It is always good to know that others share our philosophy and ethos, without which we could not have made the progress we have made in developing the thinking, attitude and approach to children in hospital.”
